Overview

The Marine Operations Safety and Security Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Marine Operations Department by providing technical expertise and coordination of managing company-wide marine safety and security policies, practices, and culture. You must be an enthusiastic, detail oriented team player while maintaining confidentiality. The Marine Operations Safety and Security Coordinator reports to The Director of Marine Operations. This position may require some travel to American Cruise Lines Vessels.

American Cruise Lines is one of America’s most experienced cruise lines. We operate the newest fleet of 100-225 passenger luxury cruise ships and riverboats on 7-21 night cruises, traveling along the coastal and inland waters of the Atlantic, Pacific Northwest and Mississippi River.

Responsibilities

Managing company marine safety programs and serving as company Marine Safety Officer.

Supporting company electronic charting systems.

Supporting company environmental compliance programs.

Reviewing marine operations and events, developing root cause analyses, and proposing potential training and procedure improvements.

Ensuring compliance with applicable marine Subchapter K regulations.

Coordinating shipboard guest and new crewmember orientation programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree (Maritime Studies Preferred)

Working knowledge of Marine 

Transportation safety and security

Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity

Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them

Strong analytical and critical decision-making skills

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Advanced-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat electronic document production, filing, and analysis across Word-Excel-PowerPoint-Adobe
